Kachmann Mind Body Institute Community Yoga Day!

Kachmann Community Yoga day invites everyone to connect your mind, body and spirit while uniting with the community. We know that as social beings, humans benefit from turning our sociability to higher ends; combining community with yoga allows us to do just that. The Buddha made the sangha, the spiritual community, one of the three cornerstones of his path because he found that a group practicing together creates a mystical field, a field of grace. The Sanskrit name for this phenomenon is satsang—usually translated as "truth-company," or being in the company of the wise. And satsang, according to several texts of yoga, is one of the great doorways to inner freedom. Join us in our practice of satsang and enjoy kinship, refreshments and the healing benefits of yoga. This class is appropriate for all levels.

All community classes at the Kachmann Mind Body Institute are completely free, no donations required.

Yoga Potluck Night!

We invite students and yoga teachers to practice asana and socialize together. With different themes and teachers, this class provides the opportunity to grow in your practice as well as get to know your fellow yogis. This is a laid back and fun environment for trying more advanced postures, pranayama, and philosophy. Bring your mat, your enthusiasm, and an open heart! If you bring a snack to share, the class is free; without a dish, it's $5.

Often those who are recovering from an illness, or who experience chronic pain, need yoga the most but are overwhelmed by medical expenses. We believe everyone should have an opportunity to experience the wonderful therapeutic benefits of yoga. The Kachmann Mind Body Institute community classes are free to the public we invite you to join us in this loving practice of self-care.

Therapeutic yoga meets the specific needs of those suffering from a variety of conditions including, cancer, heart disease, back problems, stress disorders, asthma, arthritis, diabetes, sleep disorders, and multiple sclerosis. Our healing yoga class includes breathing practices, body postures and movements, deep relaxation, and guided imagery and meditation to help relieve physical and emotional stress and pain.

When are bodies are under stress from illness and disease, stress adrenaline release can cause elevated blood pressure, headaches, feeling of lethargy and exhaustion, elevated heart rate, heart burn, and back spasms. It can inhibit our sleep and ability to digest food which depletes our vital energy that we need for health and healing. Using therapeutic yoga for stress management and illness, we can begin to change our reactions to the stressors in our daily life. Yoga helps to relax the body and develop greater awareness of our thoughts and feelings, which will increase our energy and vitality, and allow the body to heal from the inside-out.

Yoga Movements: Counteract the muscle tension and stiffness that follow anxiety, poor posture, previous injury and inactivity. Stretches strengthen opposing muscle groups, increases bone strength, balance and coordination, and helps improve blood flow to the organs.

Breathing practices: Help us restore a natural breathing rhythm, help to calm and balance the nervous system, increase the amount of circulating oxygen, and help increase awareness of internal states and deepen the benefits of other yoga practices.

Relaxation and Meditation: Assist the body to recover from exertion, reduce muscle tension and help to calm the mind and lower blood pressure and heart rate. Deep relaxation improves sleep and enables us to use imagery and meditation more fully.

Therapeutic Yoga class is a basic chair based class ideal for all levels. No experience necessary come as you are.
