Mommy & Me Yoga Workshop

After having a baby, mothers experience rapid change in their bodies, and their babies development the first year. The two things that seem to be foremost on our minds are getting into shape and enjoying meaningful interaction. We want to play and bond with our babies, and stimulate their minds.
With Mommy & Me Yoga, you will learn dynamic and nurturing yoga that you can practice anytime with your new baby. The postures address the needs of postpartum and post cesarean mothers. Mom and baby benefit as you learn calming yoga postures to improve sleep and aid digestion for you both. Babies enjoy yoga while on their backs, tummies or held in loving arms of parents. Moms enjoy the friendship and support of other moms, and bonding with their new baby while practicing yoga. No yoga experience required. Babies welcome ages 8 weeks to 8 months. This class is not the typical quiet yoga practice. However, it will be a fun and safe environment for mom and baby to play and move.
What to do with baby during class?
This class is very informal. Moms have the option to involve baby in the movements or simply hold babies and observe. Babies sometimes sleep through the class, others may want to breastfeed or bottle feed. Babies are sometimes happiest just seeing all the other babies around them. Fussing, crying and cooing are perfectly normal and part of this class. You can simply observe baby massage and yoga poses to practice at home.
What will we learn in this class?
Our Mommy & Me class teaches flowing yoga poses integrated with
strengthening exercises for mom. Each class is designed to help mothers regain core strength, flexibility and joint stability. Safety, individual attention and compassion are essential to this class. This class is very informal and there is no pressure or expectation for babies to be perfect or still. We want moms to let go of worry and enjoy being a part of this class.
