Although vibration plates have become increasingly popular in recent years there are still some questions over whether they actually work. There have been several studies that show vibration plates do work including studies done by NASA.
NASA used the vibration plates as a way to combat the atrophy that occurs with astronauts in a weightless environment. Many people are now starting to use vibration plates as part of their workout routine thanks to the benefits they provide.
One of the big reasons they have become so popular is because they drastically reduce workout times meaning they are ideal for those who are busy and don’t always have a lot of time to work out.
The way vibration plates work is by vibrating your body from the feet up and creating rapid muscle contractions that help burn fat, strengthen muscle and increase bone density. They also have other beneficial effects for your body that might not be expected such as improving circulation, increasing metabolism and nutrient delivery.
Whilst using vibration plates may look simple it is recommended that you are supervised in using them at first as if you are using them incorrectly you will not get the desired benefits and could risk injury. Many gyms not have vibration plate machines so it is recommended to use one there with the guidance of an instructor.
Whilst the evidence for the benefits of the use of vibration plates are not 100% conclusive there are a number of celebrities such as Madonna and Jessica Alba who swear by them and credit vibration plate machines for their incredible figures. Many women find themselves with stubborn areas that they cannot shift fat and cellulite from. Vibration plates are especially good for this as they produce very intense workouts. Of course to truly get the benefits of using vibration plates they should be combined with a healthy diet and other forms of exercise.
It’s true I have been using the Power Plate at my local chiropractor and whilst i primarily use it to develop muscles to help with my back pain I can’t believe how well it works!
You simply do 5 to 10 minutes of exercises on the machine and later that day it feels like you’ve done a major workout with that lovely post workout feeling in your muscles. Would highly recommend, but I know the machine at my chiropractors was thousands of pounds and I think it’s the ‘original’ vibration plate machine and there are obviously cheaper alternative versions available now but I do’t know how well they will work.
