Tired of spending gas and time in traffic to hit the gym? It may be time for you to buy your own home gym equipment. In this article, we’ll give you some tips so that you can buy home gym equipment like a pro, but without paying professional prices.
One thing that you have to keep in mind more than a local gym is space. A local gym typically has gobs of space to put the latest and greatest model of gym equipment. You, however, probably have limited space. Measure out the space that you’re willing to part with in your home and keep this number handy when you shop around for home gym equipment. There’s nothing worse than getting the stuff home and being forced to decide between your couch and the new fitness equipment you’ve dreamed of having for so long.
Experiment and decide how you want to use your home gym. Do you want your equipment to be of the free weight variety or machine. Some people like the former variety, with all the barbells, dumbbells, and power racks a person could ever wish for. Others take a liking to the newer idea of having a cable or leverage system offer the resistance.
When it comes to price, don’t be quick to settle for a low price and even lower quality. Many people are swayed by cheap gimmick ideas that you may see offered on television. Chances are though that they won’t be able to get a full workout with many of the simple seeming designs. Unless you want a piece of equipment that will only help you do, say, the perfect sit-up, stay away from gimmick designs and go with a real home gym system, whether a free weight or machine resistence.
Having your own gym at home saves a lot of time and energy. It gives you the flexibility to work out on your schedule. The only constraint is perhaps space. For that, you need to decide first what you actually need and then shop around a bit.
I agree. The more simple the equipment is,the better. And do not go for cheap costs; yet you gain cheap results as well. Always ask questions and pool in referrals from experts or from gym enthusiasts.
Yes! There are a lot of false claims over the internet or on TV about price slashes which are all pure publicity with no real results.
my husband and I are planning to get our own workout equipment so this is definitely a very helpful post for couples who want to invest in a mini workout area. Thanks so much!
These are very helpful tips. I guess the budget, space, as well as preference for machines are some of the things that I have to consider in buying an exercise equipment. I am very excited for this; and I will post more once I have it all organized.
I have designed my own home gym and is very proud of it. I did not have much space and so opted for latest equipments that are light and compact. Now I exercise in my own sweet time and that too within the comfort of my home.
I am thinking to renovate my house as well in order to make a room for a home gym. I am now researching on what types of machine that I should have in my gym. Hopefully it will be done by this year. Thanks for all the tips.
